Sikkim: – The most famous tourist destinations in North East India
Sikkim at borders Tibet in the north and northeast, Bhutan in the east, Nepal in the west, and West Bengal in the south and close to India’s Siliguri Corridor near Bangladesh. A part of the Eastern Himalaya, Sikkim is notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on Earth. Sikkim’s capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 1/3 part of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park. The Kingdom of Sikkim was founded by the Namgyal dynasty in the 17th century. It was ruled by a Buddhist priest-king known as the Chogyal. It became a princely state of British India in 1890. After 1947, Sikkim continued its protectorate status with the Republic of India. It enjoyed the highest literacy rate and per capita income among Himalayan states. In 1973, anti-royalist riots took place in front of the Chogyal’s palace. In 1975, the monarchy was deposed by the people. A referendum in 1975 led to Sikkim joining India as its 22nd state. Modern Sikkim is a multiethnic and multilingual Indian state. The official languages of the state are English, Nepali, Sikkimese and Lepcha. Additional official languages include Gurung, Limbu, Magar, Mukhia, Newari, Rai, Sherpa and Tamang for the purpose of preservation of culture and tradition in the state.

Darjeeling Tour –The Dazzling snow peaks of Kanchenjunga overlooking the town with the beautiful tea gardens on the slops of rolling hills, the orchids, pines & rhododendrons, the cute Himalayan toy train whistling its way through the mountains and combine all that with great sightseeing tours, food, shopping and other exciting activities. The City located at an altitude of 6,710ft in north east India and is part of the state of West Bengal. The nearest airport is Bagdogra and nearest major railway junction is New Jalpaiguri.
Gangtok Tour -The capital of the state of Sikkim, Gangtok is an attractive tourist destination, reflecting a unique ambience which derives from its happy blend of tradition and modernity. Alongside the deeply felt presence of stupas and monasteries, Gangtok also bustles like any other thriving town. Some of the key places to visit include Rumtek Monastery, Do-DrulChorten, Enchey Monastery, Tashi View Point and the local bazaar, Lal Bazaar.
Pelling Tour – The second popular tourist destination in Sikkim after Gangtok. Located 10 km from Geyzing and 130 km from Gangtok, the main attraction of the place is the breathtaking sight of the Kanchenjunga and the neighboring peaks. The famous Pemayangste monastery is less than a kilometre from here and is a major tourist hotspot.
Here visitor can do mountain biking, rock climbing, village tours, and meditations, apart from serving as a base for a number of treks in the region.Pelling, a beautiful petite town sited at a height of 6800ft was initially covered with wild thick forest which served as home to many indigenous wild animals of that period including Wildman (may not be yeti though).
Kalimpong Tour – Situated at an altitude of 1,200 mtrs, some 50 kms to the east of Darjeeling.It once used to be the hub of the trans-Himalayan trade between India and Tibet when merchants used to ferry commerce by mule caravan over the Jelepla pass on the Sikkim-Tibet border.
